Governor Evers Issues Safer At Home Order

24 March 2020 News

Governor Tony Evers issued his “Safer at Home” order yesterday which will shut down “non-essential businesses” and asks state residents to stay at home. During a press conference announcing the order Monday Evers said he had consulted with public health experts, business leaders, and local officials around the state and he says , “Overwhelmingly the response I heard is that we need an all-hands-on-deck approach to stopping the spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin.” Details on what businesses the Governor considers essential haven’t been released yet. But Evers said workers providing essential care or services in our communities will be allowed to continue to travel to and from work. That includes health care professionals, grocers, family caregivers and others who provide critical services. People will still be able to carry-out or get meals delivered by restaurants. Churches won’t be affected if they are live-streaming services. The number of COVID-19 cases increased by 35 from Sunday to Monday giving the state a total of 416. Governor Evers says they will determine today when the “Safer at Home” order goes into effect.
