COVID 19 Cases Mounting In Wisconsin

Wisconsin saw another spike in its COVID-19 cases Thursday and recorded its 11th and 12th deaths from the pandemic. The total number of cases is now at 710 with half of the state’s 72 counties reporting cases. Milwaukee has the most deaths reported with eight. In this area Fond du Lac County has reported 17 cases with one death, Columbia County has 5 cases, Dodge County 3, Waupaca County 1 case, and Winnebago County has reported 6 positive cases. The U.S. now leads the world in the number of COVID-19 cases with more than 81,000 and over 1,100 deaths. Thirty states have adopted stay at home orders.

Continuing Health Insurance For Employees During COVID 19 Outbreak

Governor Tony Evers and Insurance Commissioner Mark Afable are calling on Wisconsin health insurers to give small employers the option to keep employees who are furloughed or working fewer than 30 hours per week on employer-sponsored health insurance. With the COVID-19 public health emergency requiring non-essential businesses to close, many employees working for small employers may be furloughed or work fewer than 30 hours per week. Insurers should allow small employers to continue paying the insurance premium for impacted employees if they can do so during Governor Evers Safer at Home order. Health insurers often have contracts with small employers to only insure employees who are considered “active status,” meaning they work 30 or more hours per week.

FDL County COVID 19 Information Page Launched

Fond du Lac County’s Health Department has developed a COVID-19 information page. The information can be accessed on the homepage of the County’s website. The page will be updated Monday through Friday at 2 p.m. Information includes, updated status of COVID-19 cases, resources that explain how testing is determined, social distancing, what community spread means, and other helpful information.
