Ballweg Running For State Senate

State Representative Joan Ballweg of Markesan feels she is ready for a run for the 14th State Senate District. Ballweg says current Senator Luther Olsen kept her abreast of his decision about retiring and not seeking another term representing the district. Ballweg is wrapping up 16 years representing the 41st State Assembly District, which is a part of that district. She has Olsen’s endorsement and believes she would do a good job in the State Senate. “We want to make sure that the 14th Senate District is represented well with an experienced legislator and I think I can do that for a little wider audience than what we’ve been doing in the 41st.” Prior to her time in the Assembly she served on the Markesan City Council for four years and as the City’s Mayor for six years.
