Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe scored 28 points apiece to lead the Milwaukee Bucks past the Sacramento Kings 123-111 on Monday night, as the Bucks won without new father Giannis Antetokounmpo. Antetokounmpo, the reigning MVP, missed the game after he and his girlfriend welcomed their first child, a son whose birth he announced earlier Monday on his Twitter account.
Milwaukee trailed 90-88 after three quarters, but opened the final period with 13 consecutive points as Sacramento missed its first five shots. Bledsoe capped the run with back-to-back 3 pointers to put the Bucks up 101-90. Harrison Barnes had 23 points and De’Aaron Fox added 17 for the Kings, who had won four of their previous five.
Brook Lopez added 20 points for the Bucks, who improved their NBA-best record to 46-7. Milwaukee is 4-6 when trailing after three quarters. The Bucks are at Indianapolis on Wednesday.
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed forward Marvin Williams. Currently in his 15th NBA season, Williams averaged 6.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 41 games with the Hornets this season while shooting 44.8% from the field and 37.6% from three. The 6-8 forward played in 429 games (348 starts) over the last six seasons with Charlotte where he averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 27.1 minutes per game.
Originally selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the second overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, Williams has played in 1,055 career games, making 828 starts, with Atlanta (2005-12), Utah (2012-14) and Charlotte (2014-20).
He holds career averages of 10.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 28.3 minutes per game. The North Carolina product is a career 44.3% shooter from the field with a 36.2% mark from three-point range.
Iowa State star guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss the rest of the season with a fractured left wrist. Coach Steve Prohm announced Monday that an MRI revealed the fracture. Haliburton, a former star at Oshkosh North, was injured late in the first half of the Cyclones’ win over Kansas State on Saturday when he landed on the wrist as he blocked a shot. Haliburton was the Cyclones’ second-leading scorer at 15.2 points per game. He averaged 5.9 rebounds and a Big 12-leading 6.5 assists and 2.5 steals in 22 games. The sophomore is considered a potential lottery pick in the NBA draft this year.
Three players from the Wisconsin Herd have been selected to play in the Midseason All NBA G-League game. Frank Mason, Jaylen Adams and Rayjon Tucker have been named to the Eastern Conference team. As voted on by league coaches and general managers, the Midseason All-NBA G League teams features the top performers through the first half of the season. The midseason teams are separated by conference and are made up of 12 players each.
