The comeback Chiefs did it again and are Super Bowl champions. Patrick Mahomes threw for a pair of touchdowns in the game’s final 6:13, helping the Kansas City Chiefs erase a 10-point deficit and beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl 54. The go-ahead score: A 5-yard touchdown pass to Damien Williams with 2:44 left.. Williams finished off the title march with a touchdown run with 1:12 left, a 38-yarder around the left end to seal the outcome. Mahomes, who was named the game’s MVP, was responsible for three scores on the evening. His first-quarter TD run gave Kansas City its first lead of the night, a 7-3 advantage. His fourth-quarter TD toss to Williams puts the Chiefs up for good.
The Chiefs signal-caller finished 26-of-42 for 286 yards, two TDs and two INTs, adding 29 yards on nine carries on the ground. Tyreek Hill caught nine passes for 105 yards and Sammy Watkins had five receptions for 98 yards. Damien Williams gained 104 yards on 17 carries.
Sunday night’s 10-point comeback was Mahomes’ third of the postseason. K.C. fell behind 24-0 and 10-0 in the first quarters of the AFC Divisional Round and Championship Game, respectively, only for Mahomes and the Chiefs offense to eliminate those deficits by the end of the first half. Against San Francisco, Kansas City’s 10-point hole came a bit later, but it was no more insurmountable.
49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppollo finished 20-31 for 219 and a touchdown but was picked off twice.
The Milwaukee Bucks have lost 28 games since the start of last season. Only once did they follow one defeat with another. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points and 19 rebounds, and the Bucks rebounded yet again by beating the Phoenix Suns 129-108 Sunday — two days after a loss to Denver. Antetokounmpo reached the 30-point mark for the 26th time, and fellow All-Star Khris Middleton had 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Brook Lopez added 17 points, and the Bucks shot 49.5% and made 15 of 38 from 3-point range. Devin Booker scored 32 points and spurred a third-quarter surge by Phoenix, and the deficit dropped to nine when DeAndre Ayton dropped a hook shot with 3:51 left in the quarter. Milwaukee responded with three straight 3-pointers — including back-to-back from Donte DiVincenzo — to snuff out the rally. Ayton had 20 points and 14 rebounds, and the Suns shot 39% and made just 6 of 23 from deep. After getting a day off Monday, the Bucks play Tuesday night against rookie Zion Williamson and the Pelicans in New Orleans.

Markus Howard returned to action and scored 31 points and Marquette beat DePaul 76-72 on Saturday in game the Blue Demons led most of the way.
His jumper — which followed a pair foul shots — occurred with 82 seconds left to give the Golden Eagles (16-6, 6-4 Big East Conference) the lead for good. He scored eight of Marquette’s last 10. He
left Wednesday night’s double-overtime win against Xavier with 11:15 remaining in regulation when a hit to the face resulted in a bloody nose. It didn’t effect his play early as he made five of his first nine 3-pointer to score 15 of Marquette’s first 21 points. He cooled off to finish 8-of-21 shooting but made 10 of 11 from the foul line. Koby McEwen scored 13 points and Jayce Johnson 11.
After winning 12 of its first 13, the Blue Demons (13-9) have gone 1-8 in Big East Conference play. Charlie Moore led four Blue Demons in double digits with 21 points, which as a team missed 11 of 23 free throws.
