Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points and Khris Middleton had 25 to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 119-98 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Antetokounmpo had 17 rebounds and eight assists for Milwaukee, which won for the 16th time in its last 18 games. Milwaukee improved its NBA-best record to 48-8. Joel Embiid and Furkan Korkmaz had 17 points apiece for the 76ers, who fell to 9-20 on the road. Embiid shot just 5 for 18. The 76ers lost All-Star point guard Ben Simmons early in the first quarter due to back tightness.

 

Micah Potter missed Wisconsin’s December loss to Rutgers. But, he made sure to leave an impression on the Scarlet Knights Sunday, coming off the bench to score 18 points and grab nine rebounds in a 79-71 Wisconsin win. Potter was 4-5 in 3 point attempts and was an effective complement in the post for starter Nate Reuvers, who scored 17 points and knocked down a 3 as well. Brevin Pritzl also scored 17.  Wisconsin (17-10, 10-6 in the Big Ten) started the season 5-5 is now in a logjam for second place in the conference headed into the final four games of its conference schedule. Butler falls to 18-10 overall and 9-8 in the conference.

 

After having Saturday’s spring training opener against the Rangers rained out, the Brewers lost to the Padres Sunday, 7-2, at Maryvalle. Milwaukee managed just three hits.  The Brewers host the Angels this afternoon.

 

 

The U-W Green Bay women’s team battled IUPUI on Sunday afternoon at the Jungle, days after the Jaguars clinched the program’s first-ever regular season championship. The Phoenix took down the league champions on the road, 61-58, behind three scorers in double figures. Frankie Wurtz led the Phoenix attack with 17 points and finished 6-of-10 from the field while collecting three rebounds and three assists to go along with her two blocks. She also reached the 1,000 point mark in her career. Hailey Oskey finished with 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting with two triples in 36 minutes.

Ripon College 89, Knox College 83-Trent Jones led the Red Hawks with 22 points, while Ryan Steffes and Seth Kostroski each scored 16 and Jaylen Mahone added 15. Ripon improves to `8-7 overall and 11-4 in the MWC.

Mason Crosby’s agent tweeted Saturday that the Packers kicker has reached a three-year-deal with the team. Reportedly the new deal is for $12.9 million throughout three years, including $6 million in the first year and $9.5 million through the first two years, according to his source.  Crosby was listed among 13 Unrestricted free agents, with Free Agency beginning on March 18.  The 35-year-old kicker has been with the Packers for his entire career, and holds the teams career scoring record.  He was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 draft.

The Wisconsin Herd led for most of the game Sunday afternoon but lost at home to Grand Rapids, 126-117, despite a game-high 36 points from Frank Mason. He tallied a season-high 14 field goals and added four rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes of action. D.J. Wilson, who was assigned to the Herd by the Milwaukee Bucks, totaled 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five blocks, while Shannon Bogues scored 16 points off the bench on 7-of-11 shooting. Jemerrio Jones notched his 15th double-double of the season and posted a stat line of 13 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks, and Justin Patton added 11 points in his Wisconsin Herd debut.
