Flu Virus Precautions
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says there are some precautions you can take to try and avoid the spread of a cold or the flu. Hand washing is vital. “The big way that we can get a sickness is touching a surface, shaking somebody’s hand that wasn’t properly washed. So wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if you don’t have soap and water.” She recommends using tissues if you need to sneeze or cough or using your elbow if you don’t have a tissue. Throw the tissue away after use. Mueller also recommends cleaning and disinfecting surfaces at work and not going to home or school if you are sick.
