A Big Party For Miguel

14 February 2020 News

The organizer for a benefit in Redgranite this weekend for a 9-year-old Berlin boy with a terminal form of cancer says they are accentuating the positive for the event. Donna Weiss says the mother of Miguel Duran told him it is a big party for him and wants nothing sad connected with the event at the Redgranite Lions Club Saturday. Weiss is a family friend she points out Miguel went through 15 months of treatment and what he is dealing with is sad enough. The benefit runs from 1 to 10 pm with children’s activities, cookie decorating, music, a clown, a magician, music, food, raffles, a silent auction, bake sale and more. Weiss says proceeds will help with past and future medical expenses for Miguel. “We have graciously been given funds for a lift chair because eventually he won’t be able to support himself so that was one of my biggest things was getting so that he can at least be comfortable moving around in a chair on his own.” She says for those who would still like to donate baked goods or other items for the event the Redgranite Lions Club Hall will be open at 10 this morning and she will be there at 4 pm. Things can also be dropped off before 10 am Saturday morning. Miguel is a student at Clay Lamberton Elementary School in Berlin.
