The 29-year-old Oshkosh man suspected of shaking his 7-week-old son to death in November of 2018 has pleaded “no contest” to a first degree reckless homicide charge. Cory Lyons was in Winnebago County court Monday for a plea hearing. A five-day jury trial had been scheduled to begin February 10th. According to the criminal complaint the child’s mother left him with Lyons on November 29th when she went to work. Lyons told authorities he became frustrated with the baby’s crying and shook the infant five or six times not supporting his head while he was doing it. An autopsy found the child died of brain injuries. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 26th.
