MLK Day At The Ripon Public Library

15 January 2020 News

Ripon Area School District is honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of recess on Monday, January 20. Congruously, Ripon Public Library is pleased to offer the following events for all ages.

At 10 a.m. enjoy a free Improvisation Workshop, with directors of Missoula Children’s Theatre, courtesy of Green Lake’s Thrasher Opera House. Kids, teens, and adults are invited to watch, participate, or do both, as instructors offer tips and tricks for improvisational fun!

Don’t miss the old-school fun at 12:00 P.M! Get moving to some classic beats during a fast-paced game of Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) on the big screen. Mario Kart and Mario Party will be available to play simultaneously.

In honor of the life and legacy of Dr. King, enjoy a 2 P.M. movie showing of  Disney’s feature film telling the 1965 story of civil rights marchers through the eyes of an 11-year-old African-American girl named Sheyann Webb who is played by Jurnee Smollett. The film is 94 minutes long and not rated.

Throughout the week, January 20-24, all are invited to participate in a “Doves of Peace” collaborative sticker art project located near the circulation desk.

Registration is not required. For more information on these events, plus a host of other exciting offerings, visit the library’s website or follow the Ripon Public Library on Facebook.
