A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman has been charged in Fond du Lac County court with first degree reckless homicide for the death of her 2-month-old baby girl. Shauntina Fuller-Pankey is also charged with child abuse intentionally causing great bodily harm for the baby’s death while she was living in Fond du Lac in June of 2018. The baby was taken to St. Agnes Hospital where she died. The infant had suffered a large skull fracture. An emergency room physician at the hospital said he had never seen a fracture like it in his 25 years. An autopsy by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office determined death was caused by “blunt force injury” to the head and that it wasn’t accidental. According to the criminal complaint Fuller-Pankey was the only one that was with the baby and her two-year-old daughter during a 24 hour period until the baby’s father arrived a half hour before police and paramedics were called. He told police Fuller-Pankey was going through post-partum depression following the birth of their baby and two-year-old child. Fuller-Pankey had left the residence before police and paramedics were called. According to the criminal complaint when she returned she walked right past them into the kitchen as they were trying to save the baby’s life. Bond was set at $500,000 cash during a bail-bond hearing last week. A complaint was filed Wednesday.
