Iola Man Charged In Stabbing Death

28 January 2020 News

A 23-year-old Iola man has been charged with first degree intentional homicide for the stabbing death of a 42-year-old Mukwonago man. According to the criminal complaint Tyler Knutson stabbed the man over a road rage incident. Authorities got a 9-1-1 call about 8 pm Saturday night about a man who had collapsed and was struggling to breathe. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died. The victim was a passenger in a Silverado that left a tavern in Iola and nearly struck a pickup truck as it was passing by. The two drivers began driving aggressively with one following the other. Eventually they pulled over in adjacent driveways and the two drivers and two passengers exchanged words. Knutson told investigators his argument with the victim escalated to pushing. He didn’t want to hurt his face or break any bones so he pulled out a pocket knife and poked the victim once. But that “poke” was in the victim’s neck and was three inches deep.  Knutson made an initial appearance in Waupaca County court Monday where his bond was set at $500,000 cash. The initial appearance was adjourned until February 11th. He’s being held in the County Jail.
