Impeachment Reaction
19 December 2019 News
Congressman Glenn Grothman was among the Republicans in the House yesterday to vote against the impeachment of President Donald Trump. In a post on Facebook he said, “House Democrats have made calls for President Donald J. Trump’s impeachment for several years now. Every time they fail to produce any compelling evidence. That’s why I’m voting No on impeachment.” Democratic Congressman Ron Kind tweeted a statement that said in part, “My vote today was not about the President himself-more importantly, it was about defending the rule of law, our Constitution, and what signal we send future presidents of what is acceptable behavior.” Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner spoke out against impeachment on the House Floor during the debate on the two articles of impeachment in a statement on Facebook he said unlike the Nixon and Clinton cases there are no allegations of crime in the articles, despite almost 3 years of non-stop investigations. Voting on the two articles of impeachment was mostly along party lines with the impeachment approved that sets up a trial in the Senate where Republicans hold the majority.
