Menasha Substitute Teacher Suspected Of Child Sexual Assault

A substitute teacher in the Menasha Joint School District has been arrested on suspicion of first degree sexual assault of a child. Menasha Police announced the arrest of a 27-year-old Greenville man Tuesday. They are working with other law enforcement agencies in the Fox Valley to determine if there are any other victims. Meanwhile police and the school officials have worked with the state’s Department of Public Instruction to suspend his ability to have contact with other children in any school in the state.  

Beaver Dam Man Who Left Hole In Middle School Wall Pleads No Contest 

The 22-year-old Beaver Dam man who crashed his car into the north wall of the Beaver Dam Middle School in August had pleaded “No Contest” to a felony fleeing charge. Roy Cortez made the plea during a hearing in Dodge County court Monday. He will be sentenced on February 17th.  Police estimate he was going up to 90 miles an hour on Grove Street on August 21st when he went off the road. The impact from the crash left a large hole in the wall. School district officials estimated it would cost $2 million to fix it. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.  

Marion Man Sentenced For Sexual Assault Charges In Waupaca County

A Waupaca County judge this week sentenced a 51-year-old Marion man to 25 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision on three counts of second degree sexual assault for the assault of a teenage victim in July of 2012. A jury convicted Leroy Whittenberger during a trial in August. His is the first conviction and sentencing the result of testing of backlogged sexual assault kits in Wisconsin. Whittenberger has three prior sexual assault convictions from Lincoln and Marathon counties.

Dodge County Drug Bust

Dodge County’s Drug Task Force recently netted a huge drug bust with the execution of a search warrant in Neosho. Twenty-six-year-old Spencer Lokken is facing a variety of drug charges stemming from the November 14th drug bust. Sheriff’s officials say 46 pounds of illicit drugs were seized and a large sum of cash. Among the drugs were LSD, Cocaine, MDMA, hallucinogenic mushrooms, prescription pills, and marijuana products. A preliminary hearing is scheduled December 19th.

Sex Offender Released From Oshkosh Correctional

Oshkosh Police say a 46-year-sex offender was released from Oshkosh Correctional yesterday and will be living at 1105A Jefferson Street in Oshkosh. In February of 2016 Jeffrey Britt was convicted in Winnebago County court of two counts of possession of child pornography. He will be on electronic monitoring.

Ripon Common Council Keeping Way They Are Paid The Same

The Ripon Common Council recently continued their discussions about the way alderpersons are paid. Alderman Aaron Becker proposed four different options hoping it might result in some savings for the city. He failed to get a second on motions for options based on meeting attendance and salary. Then Alderman Rolland Peabody proposed keeping their pay at the same salary and way they are paid. That motion passed with Alderman Becker voting against. Common Council members have not had an increase in pay in 13 years.
