Congressman Grothman On Impeachment Efforts
Congressman Glenn Grothman says the impeachment hearings for President Donald Trump shine a big light on those involved in the proceedings, but really are distracting Federal lawmakers from getting other business accomplished. “The idea that you could remove him from office next March or April in an election year is a little bit absurd. I think what is going on here is there are people who just try and get on the news every night saying Donald Trump has not been a good president even more keep the important issues of the day off the front page of the newspaper.” Fellow Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner sits on the Judiciary Committee which has an important role in advancing the articles of impeachment against President Trump. Grothman says Sensenbrenner is in his last term in Congress and is enjoying a little time in the limelight and rightly so.
More Bigs Needed
One of the agencies the Ripon Area United Way helps to fund is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County. Big Brothers has both community-based and school-based programs pairing 6 to 13 year old children with “Bigs.” Lisa Warntjes is the in-school program coordinator for the program. She says those mentors or “Bigs” have lunch at Barlow Park or Murray Park Elementary Schools with those children jut bonding, reading, playing board games, etc. She says they’d like to get more high school kids to act as mentors. “Volunteers can actually be high school students. We have a good number of high school volunteers in the Fond du Lac schools, not so much in Ripon yet but we are working on that.” She says in the Ripon area they have 10 community-based matches and about 12 school-based, but they could use more. Those who are interested in finding out if they could be matched up with a “little” can get more information at the Big Brothers website or can call 920-922-8200.
