Town Of Alto Grain Dryer Fire

Eight fire departments responded to a grain dryer fire at Double S Dairy in the Town of Alto Friday morning. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say a wireless sensor in the dryer detected it was overheating about 11:30 Thursday night, but the fire inside the dryer didn’t start until about 4 am Friday morning. About 1,500 bushels worth $60,000 was inside the dryer at the time. The corn and the grain dryer were both destroyed. The dryer was valued at $150,000. No one was injured and fire is not considered suspicious. The call to N3447 Marshview Road came in at 4:40 am. An employee called from the scene.
