Ripon Common Council Discusses Alderperson Pay
15 November 2019 News
The Ripon Common Council this week discussed options for the way they are paid. Alderman Aaron Becker proposed they receive $60 per meeting for up to five meetings a month, which he believes would not exceed what they are paid on a monthly basis and might in fact save the city some money. City Attorney Lud Wurtz informed the Council that what they were discussing was legal since they were not talking about increasing their pay. The Council already approved the 2020 City Budget this week, which includes the pay for alderpersons. The Council will continue discussion about the proposal at a future meeting.
