Giannis Antetokounmpo had his second triple-double of the season and the Milwaukee Bucks beat Carmelo Anthony and the short-handed Portland Trail Blazers 137-129 on Thursday night. Antetokounmpo had 24 points, 19 rebounds and a career-high 15 assists to lead the Bucks to their sixth straight victory. Antetokounmpo, who also had a triple-double in the season opener, has 16 career triple-doubles. Milwaukee is 14-2 in those games. Eric Bledsoe added 30 points and six assists in the Bucks’ highest-scoring game of the season. After scoring 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting in 24 minutes in his season debut Tuesday night against the Pelicans, Anthony had 10 points in the first half Thursday. The 10-time All-Star finished with 18 points (6-of-15 shooting) and seven rebounds for the Blazers. CJ McCollum scored a game-high 37 points and Skal Labissiere added 22 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks off the bench for Portland. The Trail Blazers lost their third straight game and seventh of the last nine against the Bucks, including sixth straight in Milwaukee. The Bucks host Detroit Saturday night.

 

The Packers continue to get ready for the 49ers game in San Francisco Sunday night. Green Bay is 8-2 and in first place in the NFC North while the 49ers are 9-1 and in first in the NFC West. Coach Matt LaFleur said this week that tackling is one of the areas the Packers need improvement in. LaFleur said 49es coach Kyle Shanahan molds his offense and defense around his personnel. The game can be heard on 102.3, The Bug, with the pregame Sunday at 5:00 and the kickoff at 7:00.

NFL (Thurs.)

Houston 20, Indianapolis 17-The (7-4) Texans take over the lead in the AFC South by a game over the 6-5 Colts. Deshaun Watson completed 19-30 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Will Fuller caught seven passes for 140 yards and DeAndre Hopkins had six catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Men’s College Hoops (Thurs.)

Nate Reuvers scored 19 points and Brad Davison added 15, all in the first half, as Wisconsin beat Green Bay 88-70 on Thursday night behind hot shooting from the perimeter. The Badgers (4-1) were 15 of 31 from the 3-point line after hitting 48 percent of its 3-point attempts in a win over Marquette on Sunday. Green Bay drops to 1-3. Wisconsin travels to the Barclays Center in New York to play Richmond in the Roman Legends Classic Tournament on Monday.

Free agent Yasmani Grandal has signed a four-year deal with the Chicago White Sox worth $73 million. The Brewers had indicated a desire to bring the catcher back. Grandal hit 28 home runs in 2019. Milwaukee is now looking for someone to partner with Manny Pina at catcher.
