Portage Man Sentenced For Injuring FDL County Law Enforcement Officers

The 33-year-old Portage man that attacked a Fond du Lac Police officer and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy after a traffic stop in August of last year has been sentenced to 6 years in prison and 6 years of extended supervision. Judge Gary Sharpe sentenced Troy Kratz yesterday on charges stemming from that incident and others. The traffic stop was the result of the deputy’s response to an initial call for a battery incident at the Hazen Court Apartments. Both officers suffered facial injuries and the police officer also had a broken elbow. Kratz was convicted of a number of charges including multiple counts of battery or threat to a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer-substantial bodily harm, bail jumping, battery and intimidation of a victim. He was also ordered to pay $55,000 in restitution. District Attorney Eric Toney says he hopes the sentence will act as a deterrent to protect law enforcement officers in the county.
