Pilot Killed When Plane Crashes Into Pickup Truck In Brown County

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has identified the pilot that was killed and the pickup truck driver that was injured during a deadly collision on Dutchman Road in Ledgeview Thursday afternoon. John Fiddelke of De Pere was killed trying to land his plane at Martins Aerodome just off Dutchman Road. He was flying too low and a pickup truck driven by Patrick Schounard of Greenleaf struck it. Schounard was taken to a hospital and was in serious condition. The Brown County Sheriff’s Department and NTSB are investigating the accident.

A Ledgeview man was killed when the plane he was piloting came in too low for a landing in Brown County and collided with a pickup truck. Sheriff’s officials say the man was trying to land on a private airstrip off County Highway MM or Dutchman Road Thursday afternoon. The pilot died at the scene and the driver of the truck, a Greenleaf man, suffered critical injuries. The plane came to rest on top of the pickup truck, which went off the road. The crash happened just before 5 pm. The FAA and NTSB are involved in the investigation of the crash.
