Hometown Broadcasting Sports Friday 10/25/19

25 October 2019 Sports

The Packers continue to get ready for Sunday night’s game at Kansas City against the Chiefs.  It’s up in the air as to whether Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will play.  He suffered a dislocated kneecap last Thursday night against Denver and was initially expected to miss up to six weeks.  However, he saw limited action in practice Wednesday and Thursday and his status is still uncertain.  Kansas City coach Andy Reid said that Matt Moore, the former quarterback in Carolina and Miami, would take the majority of reps as the starter. But he indicated that Mahomes could get a few of them, and that’s a positive sign that one of the league’s prolific passers could be back in the next couple of weeks. The Chiefs promoted rookie Kyle Shurmur from the practice squad to serve as a potential backup.   Meanwhile, receiver Davante Adam’s status for Sunday is also uncertain.  He’s been out since suffering a turf toe injury against the Eagles in Week 3.

Sunday night’s game can be heard on 102.3, The Bug,  with the pregame starting at 5:00 and the kickoff at 7:20.

In Thursday night football, the Vikings won at home over the Washington Redskins, 19-9.  Dalvin Cook  had a total of 171 scrimmage yards and a touchdown to lead Minnesota.  The Vikings improve to 6-2,  while the Redskins drop to 1-7.

First pitch is at 7:07 CDT.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 30 points and had a triple-double before fouling out and his supporting cast held on to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 117-111 victory over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night in a star-studded opener featuring the last three MVPs. Antetokounmpo, the MVP last season, fouled out with about five minutes remaining. He had 13 rebounds and 11 assists.

Brook Lopez made two free throws with about a minute left before a layup by Russell Westbrook. But Lopez made a fadeaway shot to leave Milwaukee up 115-109 with 39 seconds remaining. James Harden added a pair of free throws before Ersan Ilyasova made a jump shot with about 15 seconds to go that sent many fans heading to the exits.
