Waupun Police Dog Has His Own Facebook Page

The Waupun Police Department has had a K9 program since the early 1990’s, but Officer Boomer is the first police dog in the department and maybe across the state to have his own Facebook page. Police Chief Scott Louden says it’s a way for the public to become acquainted with the all-black German Shepherd. “This is something new that we are trying, our handler has actually seen some Facebook pages from other agencies outside the state that’s what gave him the idea to do this. I think it is a great idea to promote the program.” Boomer’s handler is Officer Ryan Schneider. They’ve been teamed together for two years and as evidenced by a photo of Schneider giving Boomer a belly rub they get along pretty well. The photo posted on Facebook fetched thousands of views. Boomer’s page is listed as Police K9 Boomer on Facebook.
