Sentencing In Berlin High School Beating Case

19 September 2019 News

A 15-year-old former Berlin High School student pleaded no contest to a battery charge in Green Lake County court Wednesday. The charge, originally second degree recklessly endangering safety, stemmed from an incident in the school cafeteria on April 18th. The incident was caught on video and showed him repeatedly hitting another student in the head. After the victim falls to the ground the video shows him move toward the victim apparently to stomp on his head when the camera turns away.  Judge Mark Slate sentenced the boy to a year of formal supervision, anger management classes, and ordered him to write a letter of apology to the victim. The teen had the chance to speak in court before he was sentenced, but opted not to.
