Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his right kneecap in Tuesday’s victory over the Miami Marlins. The Brewers announced the extent of the injury following the 4-3 win over the Marlins. General Manager David Stearns said Yelich will return to Milwaukee for additional tests on Wednesday, adding that it’s not yet known if he’ll need surgery. The 27-year old Yelich was injured in the top of the first inning when he fouled a pitch off his kneecap. Yelich remained on the ground for several minutes before getting up and limping to the dugout. Yelich ends his season batting .329 with 44 home runs and 97 RBIs and led the majors in slugging percentage and OPS entering Tuesday’s games. Yelich has enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting title and becomes just the third different player to finish a season with a qualified OPS of 1.100 or higher. In addition to his 1.100 OPS, he’s tied for second in the NL in homers, third in batting average and third in stolen bases with 30. For the season, the Brewers are 67-63 in games in which Yelich played and 9-5 in games he’s missed.

Hernan Perez hit a two-run homer in the second inning off Marlins starter Elieser Hernandez. Yasmani Grandal went 2-4 and drove in a run while Mike Moustakas also had an RBI as the Brewers pushed across the game-winning run in the top of the ninth.  Starter Chase Anderson went four innings, giving up two runs on four hits. Junior Guerra went two innings and picked up the win to improve to 9-5 and Drew Pomeranz notched in his first save. Adam Conley took the loss and drops to 2-9. The teams meet again tonight as Zach Davies, 9-7, goes for the Brewers against  the Marlins Pablo Lopez, who’s 5-8. First pitch is at 6:10 and the game can be heard on AM1100/98.3FM, WISS.

Elsewhere in the N.L. Central on Tuesday, the Padres edged the Cubs 9-8 in 10 innings, the Rockies nipped the Cardinals 2-1, the Giants shaded the Pirates  5-4 and the Mariners slipped past the Reds 4-3. The Cardinals lead the Cubs by four games and the Brewers by five.

The Packers are back on the practice field today.  Green Bay hosts Minnesota Sunday.  Both teams won their opening games of the season.

New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown has been accused of rape by a former trainer.  Britney Taylor says Brown sexually assaulted her on three occasions, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in the Southern District of Florida.

Brown has denied the allegations. Darren Heitner, a lawyer representing Brown, told The Associated Press his client plans to countersue. Heitner said Brown and Taylor had “a consensual personal relationship.”  Heitner said Brown and Taylor had “a consensual personal relationship.”    Taylor also said in the statement she will cooperate with the NFL and any other agencies. A spokesman for the NFL declined comment, but the Patriots said the league told the team it will launch an investigation.  The 31-year-old Brown, a Miami native, was released by Oakland last week after clashing with the team throughout training camp. He agreed to a contract with New England on Saturday, but has yet to play for the Patriots.  Brown and Taylor met through a Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at Central Michigan University.  Taylor said Brown reached out to her via Facebook in June 2017 and asked the former gymnast for help with improving his strength and flexibility.
