Appleton Man Bound Over For Trial On FDL County High Speed Chase Charges
The 21-year-old Appleton man suspected of involving Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies and a State Trooper on a high-speed chase earlier this month has been bound over for trial. Ladonaven Brown recently waived his preliminary hearing and was arraigned on felony fleeing and resisting arrest charges, which he pleaded not guilty to. According to the criminal complaint Brown lied about his identity when he was stopped for weaving from lane to lane on I-41 on September 6th. He took off when the deputy told him he was lying. He allegedly reached speeds up to 107 miles an hour during the pursuit. The deputy was able to identify the registered owner of the vehicle who was Brown’s girlfriend and that the two lived in Appleton where Brown was arrested.

Two Major Incidents In FDL County At The Same Time Overwhelming
(Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue photo)
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says agencies responding to two major events at the same time in the County last Thursday did a great job of coordinating their responses. Table top exercises help those different agencies prepare for what may seem like unlikely scenarios and yet they handled a fatal house fire in Fond du Lac and a chlorine leak in the Town of Alto at the same time. Fire departments in particular were taxed. Waldschmidt says the County’s Communications Center was also very busy handling the two major calls and the radio traffic that goes along with it. “You got to remember the dispatchers too they were overwhelmed and humming at maximum capacity. You had two major incidents going on in the county and trying to keep all the communications straight and all the agencies you know getting the help they needed at these different events.” Waldschmidt says everyone on those calls were pretty much overwhelmed, but took the appropriate actions. The fire resulted in three deaths and the chlorine leak in non-life threatening injuries for two people.

Grothman On Duffy And Sensenbrenner
Congressman Glenn Grothman says he’s sad to see two fellow Wisconsin Republican House members leaving. Congressman Sean Duffy resigned and Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner will be retiring at the end of his current term. Grothman says he didn’t know Duffy as well as Sensenbrenner, but Duffy seemed to get along with people. “He was always an enjoyable person to be around a very personable person I think that is what we are going to miss about him. An up-north Wisconsin guy, just a regular guy, just too bad to see him go.” On the other hand he will be sorry to see Sensenbrenner go because of his 40 plus years of experience in the House. Duffy’s resignation took effect Monday. Governor Tony Evers has ordered a special election for Duffy’s 7th Congressional District seat on January 27th. If necessary a primary will be held on December 30th.
