8 August 2019 News
Severe weather moved through the area last night with thunderstorms, hail, high winds, heavy rain and possible tornado sightings. Shortly before 8:30 pm a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a funnel cloud with some weak rotation in the area of Tower Road and Golf Course Drive, which is east of Fond du Lac and north of State Highway 23. A tornado warning was issued but canceled shortly afterwards and then put into effect for Sheboygan County as the storm moved east. According to Sheriff’s officials a caller from the Brandon area also spotted a funnel cloud about 3 miles west of Brandon shortly after 8:30. Some trees and tree branches were reported down and gusts of 50 miles an hour or more were reported in the Fond du Lac area. Green Lake County Sheriff’s officials say straight line winds caused some tree and structural damage in the Berlin area and power was knocked out for about 2,500 energy customers. No injuries were reported. Green Lake County Emergency Management and law enforcement officials will be conducting a damage survey today.
