Man Who Crashed Into BD School Charged

A $10,000 cash bond has been set for the 22-year-old Beaver Dam man who crashed his car into the north wall of the Beaver Dam Middle School late Wednesday night. Roy Cortez was fleeing from police following a domestic incident. Police estimate he was going up to 90 miles an hour on Grove Street when he went off the road. Officers saw a large fireball and heard a loud thud as Cortez hit an electrical transformer and crashed into the brick wall of the school. The impact left a hole in the wall that was seven feet wide and 30 feet tall. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Dodge County court for next Thursday.
