Juvenile Threats To Blow Up Hall Of Worship In Dodge County

13 August 2019 News

A juvenile suspect has confessed to threatening to blow up the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in the Town of Beaver Dam early Sunday morning. Two elders that received the threatening texts are involved in the Spanish-speaking meetings that occur at that location, but Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says it’s not a religious or ethnic hate crime. The building was searched with a dog trained in explosives detection and no explosives were found. The threats were sent from a “spoofed” phone number, which hides the actual phone number from appearing on caller ID. However, investigators were able to determine the device used to spoof the number, and eventually the suspect. The report and a request for charges will be forwarded to juvenile court in the suspect’s county of residence.
