State Budget Impact On Ripon Area School District Revenue Explained
12 July 2019 News
Ripon Area School District Business Manager Jonah Adams this week explained how changes in K-12 Public education funding in the state budget will impact the district. He says per pupil categorical aid will increase to $742 for the 2019-20 academic year and 2020-21 and thereafter. That will bring the district $120,000 more than last year and $174,000 more than the district budgeted for. Changes to the revenue limit will bring in $98,000 less than last year, but $48,000 more than was budgeted for. Adams says the $175 per pupil aid increase for the 2019-20 school year will bring the district up to $9,812.80, which is above the new low revenue limit ceiling. The low revenue limit will increase to $10,000 a student for the 2020-21 academic year, which will benefit the district more. Adams says in terms of the additional revenue, they will review the district’s special education student numbers to determine any additional staffing needs. They are also considering retrofitting lighting in classrooms, which could improve the student learning environment and create ongoing energy savings.
