Kindness Is Contagious

23 July 2019 News

Traded Treasures Thrift Store and Community Food Pantry in Ripon is making sure kids aren’t going hungry during weekends this summer. Director Amy Pollesch says their program compliments the free breakfast and lunch program the Ripon Area School District has been doing this summer. A grant and donations from the Webster Foundation and Oshkosh Foundation allows them to pack bags for kids with Meals-2-Go, Fruits and Granola Bars in little bags with Velcro seals. Printed on the bags are the words “Kindness is Contagious.”  Pollesch says right now they are distributing the bags and meals at the schools. “We wanted to be able to hit the younger kids this year and so what we are doing is we are physically going onto the campuses of the K-2 building at Barlow and the 3-5 building at Murray Park Quest and we are handing lunch snack packs for the weekend just to make sure that the kids have a little extra snacks for the weekend.” With Summer School ending this week, next weekend distribution will be at Middle School/High School Fridays from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. The program runs through August. Anyone who feels their child is being missed in the distribution can stop at Traded Treasures next to the Police Department in Ripon.
