The Brewers are back in action tonight hosting the Cubs in a big Central Division matchup. Right-hander Kyle Hendricks, 7-8, starts for Chicago against Milwaukee left-hander Gio Gonzalez, 2-1. First pitch is at 7:10 and the game can be heard on AM1100/98.3FM, WISS. The Cubs and Cardinals are tied for first in N.L. Central while the Brewers are two games out.
There was just one game Thursday in the division as the Cardinals beat the Pirates 6-3.
The Packers first training camp practice ended with fireworks in a competitive final drill that consisted of 3rd-and-goal attempts. The first unit’s head-to-head saw Aaron Rodgers intercepted by Blake Martinez and the second quarterback up, Tim Boyle, was picked off by Kyler Fackrell. It was the third quarterback, Deshone Kizer, who found success throwing 2 touchdown tosses in the drill. On the injury front Wednesday, of note, kicker Mason Crosby missed practice with a calf injury and is day to day, as is rookie safety Darnell Savage who recently had his wisdom teeth pulled. Fellow rookie running back Dexter Williams dropped out of practice with an illness. And 2nd-year cornerback Josh Jackson missed practice with a foot injury.
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed free agent guard Kyle Korver. Korver, 38, appeared in a combined 70 games with the Cavaliers and Jazz last season and averaged 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 39.7% from the three-point arc. Entering his 17th season in the NBA, Korver holds career averages of 9.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 1,174 games (422 starts) with Philadelphia, Utah,Chicago, Atlanta and Cleveland. Originally selected with the 51st overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft out of Creighton, Korver ranks 3rd among all active NBA players in three-point field goal percentage (.429) and 9th all-time in NBA history. His 2,351 three-point field goals made rank 4th all-time in the league and his 5,478 career three-point attempts rank 11th. He was also named to the NBA All-Star Team in 2015 while with the Hawks.
