FDL Man Dies In Marquette County Accident
Marquette County Sheriff’s officials say a 59-year-old Fond du Lac man was killed when his motorcycle ran into the back of another vehicle on State Highway 22 Sunday afternoon. The vehicle was slowing for another that was turning onto County Highway XX. Robin Schwartz was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries. The accident in the Town of Montello happened about 1:20 Sunday afternoon.
FDL Man Sentenced For Vehicle Theft
The 32-year-old Fond du Lac man stole a pickup truck from a Kwik Trip parking lot in Fond du Lac and drove it to Waupun has been sentenced to 10 months in Jail. Monday in Fond du Lac County court Paul Mowbray entered a no contest plea to a vehicle theft charge. Waupun Police arrested him at a residence in the 200 block of South Madison Street on April 20th the same day of the theft. The vehicle was also located in Waupun and turned over to the owner.
Waupun Man Injured In Motorcycle Versus Car Accident
A 20-year-old Waupun man was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center last Friday with serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car on North Watertown Street at East Franklin Street. Deputy Chief Jeremy Rasch says they are still investigating the accident, but Christopher Ehlts condition is improving. The accident was reported just before 5 pm.
Waupun Man Charged For Hiding A Felon
The 65-year-old Waupun man charged for allegedly hiding a Waupun woman wanted for reckless homicide has made his initial court appearance. Steven Bierman was released on a $1,000 signature bond during his appearance in Dodge County Court Monday. Thirty-nine-year-old Cara Zech was wanted in connection with the overdose death of 23-year-old Steven Compton of Fond du Lac. Compton died of a drug overdose on July 28th of last year. When police showed up at Bierman’s apartment in Waupun on February 5th he wouldn’t answer the door. Zech was later taken into custody after leaving the apartment. Bierman will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 22nd.
High Speed Pursuit Suspect Charged
The 31-year-old Marshall man accused of running from police in Dodge County last Friday made his initial court appearance Monday. Vincent Artis was allegedly clocked going 80-miles-an-hour on Highway 151 near Waupun. When officers asked for his driver’s license, Artis reportedly fled at speeds up to 116-miles-per-hour. His vehicle was disabled by spike stripes near Beaver Dam. Artis is charged with fleeing an officer and obstruction. He was released on a $1,500 signature bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 29th.
Orleans One Of Three R & R Groups Playing At The FDL County Fair Friday Night
The rock groups Orleans, the Guess Who, and Rare Earth will be playing the Grandstand at the Fond du Lac County Fair Friday night. Lance Hoppen is one of the original members of Orleans, which formed in 1972. He plays bass, guitar, and does some vocals. Hoppen says it took about four years of touring and recording before their first hit “Dance with Me.” He says it was a thrill to hear it on the radio for the first time in 1976. “When you hear it come back to you on the radio it’s like yeah mission accomplished in a way or at least the start of things getting bigger.” The follow up “Still the One” was a top five smash. Hoppen says it’s great to still being touring and at 65 years of age he has no regrets about his life in Rock and Roll.
