Washington County Sheriff’s deputies helped authorities in Dodge County after three vehicles were stolen from an auto auction business north of Lomira on I-41 early Wednesday morning. Washington County deputies set up on I-41 near State Highway 33, but the three vehicles that were traveling together increased their speeds to over 100 miles an hour. Germantown Police set up tire deflation devices north of Holy Hill Road. In trying to avoid capture two of the vehicles crashed and another was recovered in a private driveway in Richfield. Most of the vehicle’s occupants got away on foot, but three Milwaukee teens involved in one of the crashes were arrested.

Berlin Job Center Remaining Open

The Berlin Job Center was supposed to close July 1st, the beginning of the new fiscal year, but a collaboration helped save it. Officials with the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board say they were facing a $400,000 cut in funding due to record low unemployment and were looking at reducing services to cut costs. They made an appeal to community partners and ADVOCAP stepped up.  “That was a great collaboration with Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, the Berlin Job Center and ADVOCAP of course. It is and will stay open and we are looking for volunteers.” Paul Osterholm of ADVOCAP says the center will be open Monday through Thursdays from 10 am to 3 pm. But they need volunteers to help run it. Those who are interested should call Lori Boushele at (920) 426-0150. The center will reopen as a self-service center next Monday.

Guess Who Performing At FDL County Fair Tonight

Founding Guess Who member Garry Peterson is looking forward to their performance at the Fond du Lac County Fair tonight. They will perform along with Orleans and Rare Earth on the Grandstand stage. Peterson was just a teenager when he joined what would become The Guess Who in Canada. He stayed with them over the next six decades. He’s the only original member of the group, which has seen a lot of changes in its lineup over the years. Last year they recorded a new album “The Future is What It Used to Be.” Of course the band mostly performs the hits they are best known for like “American Woman,” “No Time,” “Laughing,” “Undun,” “No Sugar Tonight,” and “These Eyes.” Peterson says although he is in his seventies now it is still a thrill to perform on stage. “Every night I look out at the audience we get to share that wonderful experience of playing that concert with the audience, which we couldn’t do with out them you know. And I think of how lucky I am at 74-years-old to be able to still be on stage.”
