From Kitty Hawk To The Moon

The 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s launch and man walking on the moon is being celebrated this week. Former Ripon College Politics, Government and Global Studies Professor Marty Farrell says it was quite an accomplishment and remains so to this day. “To land the lunar module to walk around, take pictures, take rock samples, get back in that return to the command module and then end up back safely in the ocean to be picked up by a ship that’s a tremendous accomplishment.” Farrell says it took hundreds and thousands of people to pull together for the same goal of putting man on the moon. He says if only we could apply some of that in our political realm. Tuesday was the anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch and Saturday is the anniversary of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon.
