FDL Man Charged For Run In With Police

The 61-year-old Fond du Lac man who had a run in with police early last Wednesday morning has been charged. Charles Mauch made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court Friday on nine different charges including two counts of resisting arrest, his 6th drunken driving offense, felon in possession of a firearm, threat to a law enforcement officer, violating a restraining order and more. He posted the $5,500 cash bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 16th. According to the criminal complaint Mauch had been stalking a woman and sent her text messages and a photos threatening to kill himself in front of her. He also said he would get into a shootout with cops if they were sent. Mauch tried to avoid police when they tried a high risk traffic stop near Lakeside Park nearly striking a police lieutenant with his pickup truck. He led them on a slow speed chase back to his residence where a taser had to be deployed to get him into custody. He continued to struggle during the arrest process and when blood was drawn at the hospital. Police did find a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver under the driver’s seat of his truck. He had a previous run in with the woman on May 12th when he violated a restraining order.
