Attendance at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh this past week was up 5 percent from last year. Officials estimate their attendance set a record with 625,000 visitors. They also say camping attendance was up 5 percent from last year while aircraft check-ins remained about even. EAA CEO and Chairman of the Board Jack Pelton says about 2,700 show  planes of the 10,000 planes total were part of the week at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.  Pelton says exhibitors had record years with some estimating sales were by as much as 50 percent. Pelton also praised the work of the 5,500 volunteers saying the rainy weather early on presented a “tremendous challenge.”
