Motorcycle Accidents Helmets Make A Difference

Out of the five people injured in two separate accidents in Fond du Lac County last weekend only one person was wearing a motorcycle helmet. County Sheriff’s Captain Bill Tadych says a 9-year-old-girl who was a passenger on bike that crashed on County Highway F in the Town of Osceola was injured, but not as seriously as she could have been if she had not been wearing a helmet. He says while wearing or not wearing a helmet is a personal choice many motorcycle accidents involve head injuries and sometimes diminished cognitive functions. “We were talking earlier on how much serious injuries result in cognitive problems with people when do have those traumatic head injuries it’s going to last for years and years and sometime you never overcome the damage that was sustained.” In another accident two people from Fond du Lac were seriously injured when a pickup truck turned in front of their motorcycle on Lakeshore Drive.

Congressman Grothman Visits Texas Mexico Border

Congressman Glenn Grothman says a recent trip to the Texas/Mexico border further strengthens his support for providing more security against illegal immigrants. The federal lawmaker from Glenbeulah recently visited the Laredo, Texas border site. He says in speaking with long-time border patrol agents they’ve seen a change over the years in the people trying to enter the country illegally. There was a time when people coming across were maybe looking to get a job at a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Now it’s far more likely to get the drug dealers, the cartel people that sort of thing.” He says we need to increase our border patrol agents, we need more detection dogs, and more administrative law judges that see through requests for asylum. He notes Congress recently passed a huge welfare funding bill, but is incapable of providing funding to strengthen security at our borders.
