Child Enticement Incident In Waupun
Waupun police are investigating a possible attempted child enticement incident. Authorities say a 10-year-old girl was offered candy and money by a man. The girl immediately went home and told a parent what happened. Police were unable to find a vehicle or suspect in the area of East Main and North Watertown Streets where the incident occurred Monday afternoon. The suspect was described as a white male who is 20 to 30 years old. He was driving a black four-door car.
Brandon Teen Placed On Probation
An 18-year-old Brandon man has been sentenced to six years of probation on charges of causing a child to view a sex act and exposure of genitals to a child. Fond du Lac County Judge Robert Wirtz sentenced James Iverson Jr this week. A charge of first degree sexual assault of child was read into the record and dismissed. Iverson was suspected of sexually assaulting a four–year– old girl.
Waupun Inmate Found Guilty Of Assaulting Guard
A Dodge County jury this week found a 21-year-old inmate guilty of assaulting a corrections officer at Dodge Correctional in Waupun. The verdict was rendered Tuesday after a one-day jury trial for Tyler Milton who was charged with a felony count of battery by prisoners. During a strip search in May of 2018 Milton head butted a guard. Corrections officers suspected Milton had taken an unidentified medication. He will be sentenced on August 8th. Milton is now being housed at Waupun Correctional.
Congressman Grothman Reflects On D Day Anniversary
The significance of the 75th Anniversary of D Day is not lost on Congressman Glenn Grothman. He says it was a different generation of teenagers that went to war on the beaches of Normandy than we have today. He urges today’s generation to take time to read up about the sacrifices that were made for the price of our freedom. “I think it is important for young people in particular to read about what happened and what people went through to make America what it is.” Grothman says he appreciates the sacrifices that were made and was certainly considering them while he recently attended Memorial Day ceremonies throughout the area.
Tour de Ripon Bicycling Event Underway
The Tour de Ripon bicycling event got underway at the beginning of the month. It’s not a race, but a summer long event which allows participants to bicycle the area and stop at the participating 21 sponsors who will have prizes such as free food and other items for them. Organizer P.J. Christopherson says they are pleased with the increased sponsorship this year. “21 sponsors this year so we are up from nine sponsors last year and we were able to get over double this year so 21 ranging from Ripon, Berlin, Pickett and Rosendale ” The $10 registration fee gets you a t-shirt, which you need to pick up the prizes and lists the participating sponsors. He says they are also asking people to donate a canned good when they sign up, which will go to the Ripon Food Pantry. Sign up continues through August.
