FDL Man Charged For Allegedly Trying To Kill Neighbor 

Bond has been set at $100,000 cash for a 44-year-old Fond du Lac man charged with attempted murder for allegedly beating his neighbor with a wooden pole. Cyrus Elworth made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court Tuesday on five charges stemming from the May 25th incident in the 100 block of East Merrill Avenue. According to the criminal complaint Elworth and the victim both lived in the same apartment  building and had a history between them involving items Elworth took from the victim’s apartment. Police were called about the thefts and Elworth was held accountable. The victim said he was in an enclosed porch area of the building on May 25th when he heard Elworth yell at him and was then struck in the back of the head. He was continually struck with the pole and eventually fought back to escape because he believed Elworth was going to kill him. The victim suffered several blows to the head, one of which required four stitches to close.  Police arrested Elworth while executing a search warrant on June 13th.  

Two Killed In Racine County Crash 

Two people were killed and two others injured when two semis crashed on I-41/94 at 50th Road in Racine County Wednesday.  During a press conference Sheriff Christopher Schmaling says a southbound semi hit a construction barrier and overcorrected hitting the median wall and pushing it into the northbound lane. Three vehicles hit each other or parts of the barriers and a northbound semi trying to avoid them drove off the road and burst into flames. Both semi drivers were killed in the accident.   

Missing Outagamie County Women Found 

Outagamie County Sheriff’s officials say a missing mother and daughter from Dale have been located and are safe. Fifty-five-year-old Jill Rosseau and her 21-year-old daughter Jordan were last seen at their business in Menasha Sunday. Sheriff’s officials did not get specific about how or where they were found but say “They are no longer believed to be in danger.” Authorities reportedly received a tip on their whereabouts. In a state Sheriff’s officials say, “We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support from the community.”

Waupun Woman Sentenced For Filing False Tax Returns 

The 48-year-old Waupun woman convicted of preparing and filing false tax returns is going to prison for a year. In February Kimberly Bagneski pleaded guilty to federal tax fraud charges. She filed 20 federal income tax returns seeking more than $90,000 in refunds claiming false deductions and tax credits. Most of the fraudulent tax refunds were diverted to bank accounts she controlled. She was also ordered to pay $84,129 in restitution.  

Polls Do Not Mean Much At This Point 

The chairman of the Republican Party of Fond du Lac County says they try not to put much stock in the polls on Presidential Approval. Rohn Bishop says President Trump may be trailing some of the top Democratic candidates, but he is doing favorably in one key category the economy.  “I’ve been asked in the past President Trump some of the public opinion polling doesn’t look the best going into his reelection year, but he does have a 54 percent approval rating on the economy.” Bishop is helping hosting a “Pints and Politics” event for Fond du Lac and Green Lake county Republican Party members tonight at Roadhouse Pizza in Ripon. It runs from 6 to 8 pm.  

Health Services Expo In Ripon Today 

The Ripon Senior Activity Center will host a Health Services Expo this afternoon from 3 to 6 pm. Center Director Noreen Johnson says it’s a free event and you do not have to RSVP to attend.  She says, “It’s an afternoon expo showcasing a variety of affordable and dependable services for persons over 50 so it is not just for seniors, people over 50.” Twenty-four different vendors will be attending with information about services for seniors, Medicaid and Nursing Home Planning, Therapy and Rehab, Hearing, Senior Living Facilities, a Food Pantry and more. There will also be give away items, food, and door prizes.  

New Principal Hired For Oakfield Middle And High Schools 

The Oakfield School District has a new principal for its middle and high schools. Timothy Brown comes to the district after serving as the Middle/High School Principal in the Kohler School District the past four years. He taught at Sheboygan North High School for 15 years prior to that. Brown earned a Bachelor’s Degree at the UW-Madison and Master’s Degrees at the UW-Milwaukee and Cardinal Stritch University.  Nearly 50 people applied for the position in the Oakfield School District. Brown was selected from a group of six finalists. The announcement of his hiring was made Tuesday.  

June Dairy Officer 

The Markesan Police Department’s fourth Honorary Youth June Dairy Officer came out of the middle school. Will Milner succeeded high school student Officer Anna for the June Dairy Days celebration in Markesan earlier this month. Police Chief Will Pflum says Milner is still learning the area. “He’s relatively new to the area from Kingston. He’s just a great kid who is in the middle school here in Markesan. I think that’s an accurate statement, just a positive upbeat young man.” Pflum says on his nomination form several of his teachers and peers said, “If we had more Will Milners in the world it would be a better place. Pflum notes Milner did a good job in his honorary position and had a lot of fun doing it.
