Standoff Incident In FDL Ends Peacefully

A standoff incident in the 100 block of East Johnson Street in Fond du Lac ended peacefully Wednesday morning. Police Captain Jason Laridaen. “The SWAT team had made entry into the residence took the male subject into custody without any incident. The children as well as him are safe there are no injuries to anyone.” At 4:15 am police received a phone call about a 28-year-old man who was acting suspicious. At some point he armed himself with a knife and officers learned there were three young children in the residence with him. A SWAT team was deployed as negotiators tried to resolve the situation. The FAA issued a temporary flight restriction over the area to keep news helicopters out, to protect the scene and the officers involved. Residents living in the area were advised to shelter in place and others were kept out. That particular block is one of the city’s busiest with Johnson Street also doubling as State Highway 23 and falling between Main Street and Park Avenue.

Fond du Lac Police are dealing with a standoff incident in the 100 block of East Johnson Street. Police Captain Jason Laridaen says it started out early this morning. “About 4;15 we received a phone call about a male, a 28-year-old male who was acting suspicious. At some point in time he had armed himself with a knife.” Police learned three young children may be in the residence. The department’s SWAT team was deployed and negotiators are hoping for a peaceful resolution. Residents living in that area were asked to shelter in place. Police also got the FAA to issue a temporary flight restriction over the area to protect the scene and the officers involved. A news helicopter chose to ignore it and the pilot would not communicate with the FAA. That area of East Johnson Street or Highway 23 is between North Main Street and North Park Avenue in Fond du Lac.
