Ripon Schools Providing Free Hot Breakfast And Lunch To Children This Summer
21 June 2019 News
Summer School is underway in Ripon and with it a new opportunity for children to get a free hot breakfast and lunch. School District Superintendent Mary Whitrock says they got a grant to provide the meals not only for their summer school students, but children in the community as well. “So we are feeding our summer school kids at 7:30 and 11:30, but then at 8 and at 12 o’clock Noon members of the community can bring children in or children can arrive to receive a warm breakfast and a warm lunch.” The program is for any children that are under the age of 18. Whitrock says one of their concerns was that in the summer there are a large number of children that either are missing a meal or may be just having a cold sandwich each day.
