13 June 2019 News
Ripon Police Chief Bill Wallner says his officers were able to respond quickly to an apparent robbery at the BMO Harris Bank late Tuesday morning. They got several 911 calls from witnesses and a hold up alarm at the bank was triggered. “Our officers did a great job they responded very quickly. They were there within two minutes of the 911 calls and were able to take the suspect into custody inside the bank with no injuries to anybody and no harm done to anything else.” He says the suspect, a 36-year-old Ripon man, had a knife on him but no one was harmed. The man had made threatening statements at the bank before police arrived including saying he was hoping police would shoot or kill him. He was taken to a mental health center in Fond du Lac where he was placed under an emergency detention. Wallner says after that the man is likely to be taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail where he will face criminal charges. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
