Ripon Man Charged With Attempted Bank Robbery

19 June 2019 News

Charges have been filed against a 36-year-old Ripon man who allegedly tried to rob the BMO Harris bank last week. Charges of attempted robbery of a financial institution with use of a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon have been filed against Troy Loehrke. According to the criminal complaint he entered the bank dressed in black clothing with a black hat, black bandana covering his face and black sunglasses. Bank employees told investigators Loehrke said a number of things including asking how much money was in the bank, how to apply for a job there, saying he wanted all the money in the bank, and later while crying that he wanted them to call police so they would come and shoot him. He did have a knife in a pocket, but did not display or threaten anyone with it. A bank employee pushed a silent alarm and a customer left the bank and called 911. Loehrke was taken into custody without incident. He later told an investigator he had no intention of taking any money from the bank. The incident on June 11th happened shortly after 11 am.
