Kayak Has No Relevance In BD Mans Death
Police in Beaver Dam say a 10-foot-long kayak found near a body in the Beaver Dam River has nothing to do with their investigation. The body of 48-year-old George Stodola of Beaver Dam was found by two kayakers in the river on Saturday, June 1st. The cause of his death is still being determined and the circumstances leading up to it. Stodola was not the owner of the kayak.

Board Of Health Supports Ending Personal Convictions Waiver On Vaccines
Fond du Lac County’s Board of Health this past week unanimously approved an advisory resolution that requests the state legislature end the use of personal conviction waivers for school and daycare immunizations. The vote was six to nothing. It would support State Representative Gordon Hintz’s bill that would repeal the personal convictions waiver on vaccines. County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the resolution the Board of Health passed is about showing support for ending the personal convictions waiver. “To show the state legislators, as well as the Wisconsin Counties Association, as well as the Governor that Fond du Lac County Board of Health, and then it would just show the board of health passed it unanimously and then my hope is that the county board will do the same.” Mueller says the effect of not allowing parents to opt out of vaccines would give health officials more of an opportunity to fully protect the residents of the county. There are now over 1,000 measles cases in more than 26 states. The county board will take up the Board of Health resolution at their June 18th meeting.
Motorcycle Safety Tips
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Bill Tadych says with two serious motorcycle accidents including a fatal accident recently in the county involving motorcycles it’s good to put out some safety reminders. He feels the three to five second rule trying to keep stopping distance between you and the vehicle in front of you whether its a car or motorcycle gives you room to maneuver if you have to. “You got at least enough of a wide berth that if you have to make a decision you can react quickly enough and you have enough space to take an evasive maneuver if necessary.” Other tips he passes along include giving motorcycles extra space, keeping an eye on the weather if your riding a motorcycle and he recommends motorcyclists wear appropriate protective clothing in case they end up having to lay their bike down. According to the state’s Department of Transportation approximately 100 motorcyclists are killed and more than 2,500 injured each year in traffic crashes in Wisconsin.
Grothman On Trump European Trip
Congressman Glenn Grothman says it was good to see President Trump make a trip to Europe to visit England and France this past week. Trump met with England’s Queen and British Prime Minister and attended the 75th Anniversary ceremonies for D-Day at Normandy. Grothman says it is good for the president to get around the world. “He’s liked by a lot of people. He’s a little bit of a polarizing figure, but I think that’s because you got so many people who just buy in to this idea that inevitably the western countries, be it western European countries and the United States are in decline.”
