Mayville Man Injured In Accidental Shooting In Town Of Ripon

A 22-year-old Mayville man accidentally shot himself at the Ripon Rifle and Pistol Club on South Koro Road Wednesday afternoon. Town of Ripon Police Captain Howard Stibb says the man was practicing his draw and shoot fundamentals on the range when the gun discharged. He pulled the gun from the holster and it went off into his right hip. The round exited through his right thigh. Ripon Ambulance took him to the Ripon Medical Center and ThedaStar helicopter flew him to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center. He was released later in the day from the hospital. The incident was reported about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
