The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department has seen a lot of changes at the top in the last few months. It kicked off with Chief Deputy Mark Strand’s retirement last August, followed by the retirement of Sheriff Mick Fink in January. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmit, who was elected last November to succeed Fink, says any time there is movement at the top of an organizational structure it has a trickle down effect followed by promotions. “So there is eight administrators in new positions in just a few months. So it has been pretty hectic and a lot of new people in new places learning new roles and responsibilities, but it has certainly been an exciting time. Everyone is having fun with it, enjoying the time learning their new role and getting settled in.” One of the recent changes came with the retirement of Lieutenant of Detectives Cameron McGee. Chris Randall was promoted to that position and Ryan Flood was promoted to detective to take Randall’s place.
