Appleton Firefighter Shot And Killed

An Appleton firefighter was killed a police officer and two others wounded when police and fire responded to an incident near the city transit center shortly after 5:30 Wednesday evening. Meghan Cash of the Appleton Police Department says they were responding for a medical emergency when “the incident escalated into shots being fired.” All of wounded were taken to hospitals. The firefighter, a 14 year veteran of the fire department, died later at a hospital. The Green Bay Police Department has been asked to investigate since the shooting involved Appleton first responders. Funeral arrangements are pending for the firefighter.
