Second Abduction Attempt Reported In FDL

Eighty Students Participate In FDL County Student Government Day

For the 29th time Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel gave a welcome to high school students participating in the American Legion’s Student Government Day in Fond du Lac. The legion has been putting on the program for 30 years. Buechel has given the welcoming speech all but one of those years, which he says he missed because he was attending a conference. Twenty-six of those years he gave the speech as the county executive, but he began doing it as a county board supervisor. “I was the second vice-chair of the board and the board chair and the vice-chair they didn’t have time so I decide to take the duty. I took a day off of work to come and be part of it, so I’ve been involved that long.” He says it’s a great opportunity for high school juniors and seniors from across the county to learn about county government and he appreciates the American Legion putting it on. During Student Government Day Wednesday 80 students from 11 different schools participated.

The city is still looking for one new member each for the plan commission and historic preservation commission.
