Ripon School District Will Offer Summer Food Program

10 April 2019 News

For the first time ever the Ripon Area School District will have a summer food program. District Superintendent Mary Whitrock says they qualified for federal funding due to the percentile of students at the two elementary schools that qualify for free and reduced meals. As a result the program will be offered during the six weeks of summer school. “We qualified for some additional support from the federal government and that is in the form of summer food program. So we are going to be able to offer free breakfast and lunch to our students throughout the summer.” After summer school the program will be offered in the high school commons throughout the summer. Whitrock says they are pleased that they will be able to offer hot meals to students during the summer months.
