Markesan Police are looking for their next Honorary Youth June Dairy Officer hoping that youth is as spirited as their last youth officer. Officer Anna is a 16-year-old student who attends Markesan High School. But these days she’s recovering in a hospital from surgery after a serious illness. Markesan Police Chief Will Pflum says she’s had health issues throughout her life, but has always had a positive outlook. “She was selected just basically on the premise that if you know Anna she’s able to light up an entire room. Her smile is contagious and she is just a very refreshing person to be around. She embraces life and always meets it with a smile and usually a couple giggles as well.” Chief Pflum has been posting updates about Anna on the department’s Facebook page. Meanwhile nominations are being taken for the Honorary Youth June Dairy Officer. The child has to live in the Markesan School District, be between the ages of 8 and 18 and show a great deal of character, integrity, and courage in their lives and community. Nominations can be made by messaging the department’s Facebook page or they can be sent to Chief Will Pflum, P.O. Box 352, Markesan, WI. 53946.
